race for fourth in Serie A will go down to the last weekend of the
season. Fourth-place AC Milan are one point ahead of Roma, Lazio and
their opponent on Saturday Atalanta. This weekend’s game will play a
role in determining which club qualifies for the Champions League and
which team has to settle for the Europa League.
Atalanta
defeated SPAL 2-1 last weekend to push their unbeaten run to six games.
The Goddess have 14 points over their last six games and 32 points over
their last 15 games. Atalanta are the highest scoring team in Serie A
this season with 50 goals. Duvan Zapata, Josip Ilicic and Papu Gomez
have combined for 28 goals and 16 assists. The trio will lead the attack
for Atalanta as they look to pass AC Milan in the race for fourth
place.
Milan defeated Cagliari 3-0 last weekend and are also unbeaten over
their last six games. Gennaro Gattuso’s team could have run away with
fourth place in Serie A if they didn’t settle for so many draws. Milan
have nine draws, including seven draws in their last 11 games. Gattuso
is hoping that the addition of Krzysztof Piatek will help the club pick
up over victories over the final third of the season. Piatek has scored
four goals in his first four games with his new club and Milan are
unbeaten with their Polish striker in the lineup.

Atalanta and Milan drew 2-2 earlier this season. The draw was the fifth between the two clubs since the start of the 2015-16 season. Milan have not defeated Atalanta since the final week of the 2014-15 season.
